Botany & Research Centre
Government P.G. College Satna M.P
The Department of Botany was established with the inception of the college in year 1958. Initially the Department offered Under Graduate and Post Graduate classes stated from 1966.
Presently Department is being headed by Professor Rashmi Singh who has teaching experience of more than 37 years of U.G. and P.G classes. She was Chairman, Board of Studies A.P.S. University, Rewa (2018-2021). Presently she is also Chairman, Central Board of Studies, M.P. Higher Education Bhopal M.P for the NEP 2020 "Soil conservation and water Management" for Syllabus of four years Degree course. Presently she is working as Coordinator, NASI Bhopal Chapter, The National Academy of Sciences India. She has supervised 07 Ph.D students for their research degree and currently 02 Ph.D scholars are working with her from A.P.S. University, Rewa. She is Associate editor of two Multidisciplinary peer reviewed (U.G.C approved up to 2019) research Journals National Journal of Life Sciences and Life Science Bulletin. Dr. Singh also took active part in various Indian academic societies. She is fellow member of Indian Botanical Society, Society of Environmental Sciences and Society of Life Sciences. Received Eminent Scientist Gold medal Award 2015 in recognition of her outstanding academic contribution and achievements in the field of Algal Diversity by Society of Life Sciences, ESW Recognition Award 2017 by Environment & Social welfare Society, Khajuraho (M.P.), SBBS Senior Scientist Award 2019 by Society for Bioinformatics and Biological Sciences, Prayagraj (U.P.) and Best paper presentation Award 2021 during ESW VII Annual National Conference on "Climate change and Global Health Management" at Khajuraho on Feb.01 to 02, 2020. She has completed one U.G.C. Minor research project in 2002 and NASI-Tribal research project in year 2020 as Principal Investigator. She has also organised four National symposium and workshop in Dept. of Botany, Govt. P.G. College Satna (M.P.) sponsored by National Academy of Sciences India. Dr. Singh has edited text books of Botany based on M.P. unified B.Sc Semester pattern syllabus, published by Arun Prakashan Agra. She has also edited three research books and published more than two dozen research papers in reputed National and International journals, proceedings and also attended and chaired a number of National and Inter-national conferences and symposium.
In the Department there are 7 sanctioned posts. Presently out of them two Professors, two Associate Professors and two Guest faculties are working. Dr. Archana Nigam, Professor has 37 years of teaching experience, In Charge of Biotechnology Department and In charge of different committees of our College. She also edited a text book on Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering published by JTS publication Delhi. Dr. Rajesh Garg is Associate Professor has 29 years of teaching experience. Apart from his assignment of teaching Dr. Garg is also functioning as Regional Direcor, M.P. Bhoj Open University, Bhopal at Regional centre Satna. Dr. Manoj Singh Associate Professor has also 29 years of teaching experience and In Charge of Botany Departmental library. Apart from his assignment of teaching Dr. Manoj Singh is also Asst. Controller exam, Govt. P.G. College Satna. Two guest faculty members Dr. Sunita Soni and Dr. Jyoti Shikha Agarwal are also having good academic carrier and long teaching experience. All faculty members are actively engaged in research publication and participated & presented their research papers in International and National Seminars/ Conferences/ Workshops.
