Government College Satna, established in 1958, is a government-run institution and the lead college of Satna district. The college is recognized under Section 2(F) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956 since 1972 and 1991 respectively, and is affiliated to Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa (M.P.).

? Autonomy & Accreditation

The college was conferred autonomous status by UGC in 1994, marking a major milestone in its academic journey. Since then, the institution has been functioning smoothly with academic and administrative autonomy.

In 2012, the college was accredited by NAAC with Grade ‘B’ (CGPA 2.43). Subsequently, in 2022, the college was re-accredited by NAAC with Grade B and CGPA 2.29.

? Campus & Heritage

Spread over a vast area of 54 acres, Government College Satna is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in the Vindhya region.

Initially affiliated with Sagar University, Sagar (M.P.), the college’s affiliation was shifted to A.P.S. University, Rewa after its establishment in 1969.

? Academic Growth

The college initially offered undergraduate programmes only. In 1966, it was upgraded to a Post Graduate College, adding a new dimension to its academic profile.

Apart from its regular courses, the college also hosts a study centre of M.P. Bhoj University, Bhopal.

? Programmes & Research

At present, the college offers education in 28 programmes across the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, BBA, and Agriculture.

Nine departments are recognized as research centres: Hindi, Economics, Political Science, Commerce, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, and Zoology. In addition, eligible research guides are available in other subjects as well.
