Government Post Graduate College, Satna (M.P.)
The Central Library of Government Post Graduate College, Satna, established in 1958, serves as a vital hub for academic, intellectual, and research activities. The college is an autonomous government institution affiliated with Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa.
? Academic Support
The library caters to the academic needs of students and faculty members from various faculties including Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Management, and Vocational Courses.
? Library Collection
The library houses a rich collection of approximately 85,000 books, including curriculum-based textbooks and a wide range of resources on general knowledge, competitive examinations, research, reference works, literature, social sciences, and linguistics.
Reference materials such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, yearbooks, and gazetteers are available. Newspapers, magazines, academic journals, and career guidance materials are also regularly provided.
? Facilities & Services
A well-equipped reading room with seating capacity for over 50 students is available. Regular book lending and return services are operational. Orientation programs are conducted every academic year for first-year students to familiarize them with library services, resources, and rules.
? Inclusive Education – Book Bank Scheme
Under the Book Bank Scheme, students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are provided free academic support every year. This includes books worth ₹1500 and stationery worth ₹500, promoting inclusive access to higher education.
? Digital & Future Initiatives
The library is moving towards phased digitalization. A total of 15 computers have been installed under the e-Library for access to digital resources such as NDL and ONOS. Plans for Wi-Fi facilities and CCTV surveillance are underway to enhance accessibility and security.
? Vision & Management
The primary objectives of the library are to promote a culture of reading and research, develop a digital and green library, and ensure inclusiveness and innovation in alignment with NEP 2020.
Under the guidance of Principal Dr. Suresh Chandra Rai, the library is efficiently managed by Mrs. Aradhana Shrivastava and Mr. Aditya Kumar Rai.
